Ok, Bridal Buzz-ers we need your help. Does anyone know where to get a midnight blue tuxedo in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area (or at least within a reasonable distance)?

Calling All Newly Engaged DFW Couples…

ringDid you recently get engaged? Or did a friend? Or a sister or brother? If so, e-mail me (click on my name at the end of this post) and tell me all about it. Don’t get carried away; please make it 150 words or less. Tell me who you are, how you met, where you work, how he proposed, who your attendants will be—whatever you’d like (that has to do with your engagement, of course). I’m going to start posting one engagement announcement each week on BridalBuzz. Oh, and please send a pertinent photo with your 150 words. And, may I say in advance, “Congratulations!”

Local Meteorologist Creates The Groom’s Planner

grooms-plannerYesterday I got a fun e-mail from Kevin Selle, chief meteorologist for Texas Cable News. Seems in addition to forecasting the weather, he’s created a leather-bound organizer for grooms-to-be called The Groom’s Planner. He had the idea years ago when he was a groom himself, and while he admits that grooms have much less to worry about than brides, he think guys could stand to keep all of the information about tuxes and the rehearsal dinner in once place. f8 Studio of Dallas Named Top 10 Wedding Photographer of 2009

tiffani-ryanWe love f8 Studio. In addition to brilliant work–which we have featured in D Weddings—they are the folks behind that super-fun boothBooth, which Raya blogged about a few days back. Well, we’re not the only ones who are impressed, because f8 was recently named one of the top 10 wedding photographers in the country by American Photo editors. These top 10 were recognized for their blend of technical skill and aesthetic innovation. To wit, this portrait of Tiffani Mauldin and Ryan Frederick, married August 8, 2008. (We ran this photo in the spring/summer 2009 issue of D Weddings.) Says the couple: “Part of the reason we went with f8studio was because of the fun we had coming up with ideas with our photographer, Gary Donihoo. I’m glad we took the American Gothic photograph, because it started the wild creation of the rest of the engagement pictures as well as the diversity of the wedding itself.”

A Gift for the Groomsmen: Duck Bill Money Clip

moneyclipJust in case your husband-to-be needs a little help in the gift-giving department, tell him about the Duck Bill Money Clip, designed by Dallas entrepreneur Tony Cornett and highly recommended by D Magazine editors. (And, trust me, those guys would know!) If your man needs convincing of its merits, you should send him that link. But he should also know this: it costs just $36 ($46 if you have it engraved). So tell him to forget about those silly flasks–no need to encourage those boys to drink!–and give his groomsmen something they can really use. Buy it online or at the Nasher Sculpture Center store.
