Whoop! Whoop! How exciting is this? I wish I was getting married again so I could buy one of these dresses. Carolina is one of my all-time favorites. Her wedding gowns are classically beautiful yet modern – kind of like Carolina herself. So hotfoot it over to the Carolina Herrera boutique in Highland Park Village Saturday, November 21 from 10am to 6pm to get in on the goods! Dresses will be 30-70% off!!Appointments are highly recommended by emailing allison.presser@cherrera.com or call 214.219.6060.
This is a party you’ll want to bring your mother to – and maybe even your soon-to-be mother-in-law as well. Why? Not only because it will be fun (shopping +wine + hors d’oeuvres = fun) but Paulette Martsolf owner of and designer for Allie-Coosh will be giving a sneak peek of her newest collection that will debut at the Attitudes & Attire Kim Dawson Award Fashion Show on February 3. Attractive mother-of-the-bride outfits are so difficult to find and Allie-Coosh has some fashionable options. In addition, the distinguished honoree of the 2010 Kim Dawson Attitude Award, Caroline Rose Hunt, will be officially announced. So make it a girls’ night out with your mom and mom-to-be on Wednesday, November 11 from 6-8pm at Allie-Coosh.

Well, it took three days, 25 people, 40 dresses, thousands of dollars worth of accessories, hundreds and hundreds of photos and two Chihuahuas but we got the D Weddings gown shoot done – and if we do say so ourselves, it’s one of our best! I’d love to show you some shots here but you’ll have to wait until the issue comes out at the end of December. I know that seems far off but it will be worth it. You’ll see gorgeous designer dresses (some straight off the runway) from Vera Wang, Monique Lhuillier, Oscar de la Renta, St. Pucchi, Angel Sanchez, Romona Keveza and more. Until then, get your wedding gown fix by checking out my photo-filled Runway Reports from last week’s NYC Bridal Market here, here and here. And the Chihuahuas? They kept us on our toes during the long days, and even got in on the act once or twice.
Thank goodness the rain slowed down a bit and the temperatures were a little higher on Day 3. Plus, it was Monday and since most people were at work, catching a cab was a lot easier. I went to six shows and appointments that day and by the end of market, I had noticed several emerging trends in wedding gown design. Here are a few of the most common:
Jump to see examples of some of the trends and more fantastic new dresses from St. Pucchi, Oscar de la Renta, Watters, Romona Keveza and Angel Sanchez.
With Day 1 behind me and a good night’s sleep I was ready to take on Day 2 where I would see shows by Reem Acra, Monique Lhuillier, Anne Barge, Douglas Hannant, Anna Maier~Ulla Maija and Junko Yoshioka. As luck would have it the weather was unseasonally cold. With pouring rain and gusty wind, it wasn’t the easiest day to navigate the city. It took what seemed like forever to find an empty cab. But I soldiered on. I was determined to hit every show. I didn’t want to miss one dress! Jump to see what made my day worthwhile…
Twice a year bridal gown buyers and journalists flock to New York City to witness the unveiling of the newest designer wedding gowns at the Wedding Channel Couture Show. I like to call it “fashion week for wedding dresses.” Buyers usually only attend the shows of the designers they carry in their stores but journalists, dedicated to thorough reporting, attempt to attend them all. We scramble back and forth across Manhattan rushing from one show to another. And if a show runs late, so do we. The models and attendees fight for cabs (although we usually let the models go first because the later they are the later the next show is) and sometimes, when the location isn’t too far, we even walk the city streets in our three inch heels. Regardless, the whole event is as stressful as rushing to get to the airport on time. Fortunately, the positives make it all worth while. Seeing the gowns in person and gazing in awe at the creative genius of the top designers is a dream come true. So with blisters on my feet and every muscle aching, over the next few days I will give you the highlights of the shows. But now I’m off to one last appointment so I’ll leave you in suspense until tomorrow. But believe me, it’s worth waiting for. The gowns are phenomenal!

Just one of the lovely Oscar de la Renta gowns you can see in person at Warren Barron this week end.
If you know me at all you know that I adore just about anything Oscar de la Renta designs, especially his insanely beautiful wedding gowns. To see them in person is to awe at the gorgeous detail, exquisite fabric and delicate movement. Well now that I’ve got you drooling, I’ll tell you how to get your Oscar fix. Head over to Warren Barron this week end (Thursday, October 8 through Saturday, October 10, 10am-6pm) to see his spring 2010 trunk show. But wait! Appointments are required so give them a call at 214-526-8400 to get yours before they’re all gone.
Ooh, ladies! Don’t miss this sale on Saturday, September 12! The Bridal Salon at Stanley Korshak carries a great selection of gorgeous designer gowns and some of them will be priced at only $500. The store opens at 10am; get there early for the best selection. All sales are final so be sure to bring a friend with you for a second opinion. Bridesmaid and flower girl dresses will be available as well.
If you’re a bride-to-be and haven’t found your dress yet you’ll want to head over to Blush Couture this weekend. From August 28-30 they will be having a Blue by Enzoani trunk show featuring many of the designer’s gowns that aren’t normally carried in the store. Doors will be open Friday from 11am-5pm, Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday noon-3pm but we urge you to make an appointment by calling 214-303-0077 if you want to try on any dresses. You can drop in just to look but without an appointment you probably won’t be able to get a dressing room.

This Homa Bridal veil is just one of the beautiful items available at the trunk show.
This Friday and Saturday (August 21 and 22) Warren Barron will be hosting a bridal accessory trunk show. It’s a great way to see pieces that aren’t normally carried in the store so you’ll have more to choose from than ever before. View gorgeous earrings, necklaces, bracelets, veils, tiaras and headpieces from Homa Bridal, Debra Moreland for PARIS and Meredith Griffin for Elizabeth Fillmore. Hours are from 10am to 6pm but get there early for the best selection.
