Just Engaged: Dustee Tucker and Justin Jenkins

Dustee-TuckerAfter seven years working in the political hustle and bustle of D.C., Dustee Tucker realized that she was ready to move back home to Texas. And just seven months after returning down south, Dustee met a tall, Texan attorney named Justin Jenkins who swept her off her feet. One day, Dustee received an email from a colleague, asking if she and Justin would attend a weekend meet-and-greet for their company, which was to be held at The Mansion on Turtle Creek. When she and Justin arrived at The Mansion, they were escorted to what Dustee believed to be her colleague’s personal suite to prepare for the event. Upon opening the door, the couple encountered a room filled with roses and balloons. Dustee’s initial reaction? “Oh, my gosh. We are in the wrong room! This is someone else’s party!” Justin’s response? Pulling out a ring and proposing to Dustee. The couple celebrated their engagement with a romantic dinner at The Mansion, followed by a surprise champagne toast at the bar with their closest family and friends.

Just Engaged: Kristy Melasky and Riley Nail

Kristy-MelaskyThree years ago, Kristy Melasky and Riley Nail were merely coworkers at the luxurious Hotel ZaZa. Perhaps it was a daily dose of the hotel’s romantic setting, or maybe it was fate, but after a random night out on the town, the two recognized their spark. They’ve been inseparable ever since. The couple spent their first summer together in Dallas before Kristy moved to Maui, when they made the transition to becoming a long-distance couple. Riley made the trek to Hawaii quite often to visit Kristy for the year she was there, where they camped on beaches and islands, soaking up the Hawaiian sun. Upon her move back to Dallas, Riley was helping Kristy unpack the loads of boxes at her new home when he informed her that he had a special housewarming gift for her. What was probably the smallest box of the bunch held the greatest surprise – Riley dropped to his knee and asked Kristy to be his wife.

Just Engaged: Sarah Jewell and Matt Gantt

Sarah-Jewell-and-Matt-GanttWaiting in the security lines at the airport is never anyone’s favorite part of traveling, but it’s safe to say we all appreciate the efforts of our Homeland Security. Especially Sarah Jewell’s soon-to-be fiancé, Matt Gantt. The two were jetsetting to Mexico for a romantic getaway, and Matt’s secret plan was to propose to Sarah on the beach. Everything was going according to plan when all of a sudden Matt was nearly forced to ask for Sarah’s hand in marriage in a less romantic setting – in the security line at DFW Airport. Luckily enough, just as the guards began questioning Matt about his diamond ring in tow, Sarah happened to be pulled aside for a random security check. She never noticed the commotion caused by the ring, and the engagement went as planned. Matt surprised Sarah with a private dinner on the Mexican beach at sunset on August 15. The couple will be married next June in Dallas.

Just Engaged: Nancy Dominguez and Guy Mitchell

Nancy-DominguezWhen Guy Mitchell told his girlfriend, Nancy Dominguez, that he was treating her to a date in Austin on August 8, she was more than thrilled. The two Texas alum couldn’t wait for a visit to their alma mater, and although Nancy thought it was simply going to be a casual day in Austin, Guy suggested she wear a dress and heels. Fortunately, Nancy didn’t give it a second thought and happily obliged. After a stroll through campus and the essential trip to the University Co-op, the couple headed to the campus Tower for a little break on the steps. And what a “break” it was. What was a normal conversation, reminiscing of fond college memories, turned into Guy falling to one knee, professing his love for Nancy while pulling an engagement ring out of his pocket. In the midst of her shock, Nancy managed to utter an enthusiastic “yes!” while Guy pointed out another trick up his sleeve: their hidden friend caught the entire engagement on camera, just like Nancy had always wanted. After a post-engagement photo shoot, the duo then escaped to brunch at Chez Zee, where both of their families were waiting to celebrate.

Just Engaged: Amy Lambert and Michael Principe

Amy-LambertWhen Michael Principe and his 8-year-old daughter, Angela, departed for a several-week trip out west, they left Michael’s girlfriend, Amy Lambert, waiting in anticipation for their return back to Texas. Not only was Amy looking forward to seeing two of her favorite people again, but Michael and Angela informed Amy that they were adding goodies and trinkets to “Amy’s Bag of Prezzies” with each city they visited. Upon their return to Texas on July 23, Michael and Angela asked Amy to close her eyes as they presented her with the bag of gifts. She happily agreed, and with each eye opening, she was presented with t-shirts, key chains, and jewelry collected in cities from Las Vegas to Sacramento. Thinking her parade of presents had come to an end, Michael asked Amy to close her eyes one last time for one final gift. She opened her eyes to find Michael down on one knee with a bright ring in hand. Amy screamed “yes!” as they all celebrated together. And although Angela suggested Michael coax Amy into saying yes with a handful of jellybeans, we’re thinking the ring sealed the deal just fine.

Just Engaged: Daye Loewy and Dustin Price

daye loewyApparently Cupid is a fan of kickball, and lucky for Daye Loewy and Dustin Price, he just so happens to have a station at the Uptown sports bar, Christie’s. This bar played the backdrop for Daye’s and Dustin’s budding friendship, where their team would gather after many a kickball victory. Ironically enough, Daye was out on a date with another man one night when she received a text message from Dustin. Ever since that single text, she couldn’t stop thinking about him, so they met up one night in November of last year, and voila! Dustin popped the question September 28 at St. Martin’s Bistro. They were the only diners in the restaurant, and Dustin caught Daye completely off guard. He described how he thought that a romantic little bistro such as St. Martin’s would be the perfect place to propose some day. She casually agreed but then, after noticing a shiny ring in his hand, realized some day had arrived.

Just Engaged: Lauren Phillips and Brad Cruson

lp 1lp 2Lauren Phillips first saw Brad Cruson at a Grapevine sports bar where he was singing and playing his acoustic guitar. The two exchanged flirtatious looks and smiles all night and with each song Brad played Lauren became more and more enamored; she wondered how he knew all of her favorite songs… Well, what started as just a regular night turned out to be the beginning of a beautiful relationship. Two years later, on a random Sunday, the couple headed out for a casual dinner. Brad told Lauren he wanted to try a new restaurant but when they arrived it was closed (wink, wink). Since it was right on Lake Grapevine Brad suggested they take a stroll. As they headed toward the water Lauren noticed roses scattered on the ground, a romantic table set up for two and Brad’s guitar on its stand under a gazebo. Brad led Lauren to the table, sat her down with a glass of their favorite wine, and proceeded to play the guitar and sing her favorite song. Afterward, he professed his love, got down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage. With the sun setting behind them, and a tear in Brad’s eye, Lauren said yes! They will be married on June 12, 2010.
