If you knew a world-renowned podiatrist and an MIT rocket scientist had designed high heel inserts would you try them? And what if said design had received the Seal of Acceptance from the American Podiatric Medical Association? Would that make you want to try them even more? I don’t know about you but I think they sound like something we heel addicts shouldn’t live without. The inserts, called Insolia, are the “only high heel insoles that are proven to shift weight.” And what does that do? Well, in simple terms, it allows us to wear our gorgeous shoes longer and more comfortably. (more…)
Whoop! Whoop! How exciting is this? I wish I was getting married again so I could buy one of these dresses. Carolina is one of my all-time favorites. Her wedding gowns are classically beautiful yet modern – kind of like Carolina herself. So hotfoot it over to the Carolina Herrera boutique in Highland Park Village Saturday, November 21 from 10am to 6pm to get in on the goods! Dresses will be 30-70% off!!Appointments are highly recommended by emailing allison.presser@cherrera.com or call 214.219.6060.

Well, it took three days, 25 people, 40 dresses, thousands of dollars worth of accessories, hundreds and hundreds of photos and two Chihuahuas but we got the D Weddings gown shoot done – and if we do say so ourselves, it’s one of our best! I’d love to show you some shots here but you’ll have to wait until the issue comes out at the end of December. I know that seems far off but it will be worth it. You’ll see gorgeous designer dresses (some straight off the runway) from Vera Wang, Monique Lhuillier, Oscar de la Renta, St. Pucchi, Angel Sanchez, Romona Keveza and more. Until then, get your wedding gown fix by checking out my photo-filled Runway Reports from last week’s NYC Bridal Market here, here and here. And the Chihuahuas? They kept us on our toes during the long days, and even got in on the act once or twice.
Thank goodness the rain slowed down a bit and the temperatures were a little higher on Day 3. Plus, it was Monday and since most people were at work, catching a cab was a lot easier. I went to six shows and appointments that day and by the end of market, I had noticed several emerging trends in wedding gown design. Here are a few of the most common:

Mark your calendars, ladies. StarDust Celebrations is hosting a St. Pucchi Trunk show all weekend long. I’m sure you’re all familiar with this stunning bridal brand, but in case you’re not, you won’t be let down. The detail on these gowns never ceases to amaze me. I can get carried away clicking through the online galleries for hours upon hours, but seeing them in person? Now that’s dangerous. Anyway, on to the important details of this event. Designer Rani Totman describes this line as, “gowns that reflect an Old World elegance melded with a trend-setting modern sensibility.” Special promotional pricing will be offered throughout the weekend, and appointments are required, so book now!
The times are Fri., Oct. 30 from 10 am-6 pm; Sat., Oct. 31 from 10 am-5 pm; and Sun., Nov. 1 from noon-4 pm.

With Day 1 behind me and a good night’s sleep I was ready to take on Day 2 where I would see shows by Reem Acra, Monique Lhuillier, Anne Barge, Douglas Hannant, Anna Maier~Ulla Maija and Junko Yoshioka. As luck would have it the weather was unseasonally cold. With pouring rain and gusty wind, it wasn’t the easiest day to navigate the city. It took what seemed like forever to find an empty cab. But I soldiered on. I was determined to hit every show. I didn’t want to miss one dress! Jump to see what made my day worthwhile…
Well, I made it back to Dallas exhausted but exhilarated. There were so many fantastic dresses at market that I’m giddy with excitement. (Yes, giddy.) Our big gown shoot is next week and I’m working feverishly to get some of the newest designs for it. I was going to write a little blurb about each designer I saw on the first day of market but when I thought about it I realized that you’d probably prefer to see dresses rather than read about them so I will post some of my photos here. Forgive me for any awkward angles or blurry images. It’s not easy to write notes and attempt to take photos of moving objects at the same time. Nonetheless, I think you’ll get the picture (pun intended). Enjoy!
It goes without saying that your wedding gown is the single most important detail of your big day. Yes, the hottie standing across from you, pledging to love you for the rest of your lives is right up there at the top of the list, but the gown? Well, it’s a close tie in my opinion. Bottom line, the dress is kind of a big deal, so it’s important to choose wisely. Fortunately, StarDust has added a third location to its wedding gown empire for your perusing. In addition to StarDust Celebrations and Lulu’s Bridal Boutique, there’s now even more of a selection of gorgeous gowns with their opening of A Bridal Closet at The Shops at Willow Bend. The swanky new shop carries brands such as Alvina Valenta, Jim Hjelm, Maggie Sottero, St. Pucchi, Elie Saab, Watters, and the list goes on for miles. They also carry attire for your entire bridal party, from bridesmaids to flower girls. Bonus: they offer off-the-rack.
Located at 6121 W. Park Blvd. in Plano. Open Friday through Sunday, or available by appointment. Call 469-366-0788 for more information or to make an appointment.

Looks like brides will soon have fewer resources for inspiration. Conde Nast announced it will stop publishing Modern Bride and Elegant Bride. However, Brides will now be published monthly.
