BCBG Launches a Bridesmaid Collection!

Ooh! This is so exciting! Finally the cries of desperate brides around the world seeking pretty dresses for their ‘maids are being heard by designers – and BCBG is one of them! Their new bridesmaid collection features ten dress styles that come in eight colors – champagne, ink blue, pale lime, wisteria purple, peach blush, deep red, black and white. What’s great too is that any of these dresses could also serve as bridal gowns for those seeking something more casual for their nuptials. Prices range from $258-$348. In addition, they’ve got accessories like silk pashminas, jewelry and clutches as well as knotted open-toe heels and pumps in off-white, black, champagne and red satin. I’ve been told that that NorthPark store should be carrying the bridesmaid dresses but if not, they can always be ordered on the BCBG web site (link above). A new era is emerging in the world of wedding attire – rejoice!

The Clipa Purse Hook is a Perfect Bridesmaid Gift!

A couple of years ago I was sent a purse hook to try out. (You know, those “L” shaped hooks that attach to a bar or table that you can hang your purse on instead of putting it on the floor.) At the time, I wasn’t too excited about it so I never used it. But recently, I began to notice that there were a lot of occasions in which I needed one. So I popped it in my bag and tried it out a few times. It worked okay but not great. There were too many times when it wasn’t wide enough to fit on the table or bar ledge. Then, one fateful day, my husband was trying to make it fit on a bar ledge and it broke. At that point, I was over it. That is, until I received a Clipa in the mail. Two, in fact – one gold, one silver. The Clipa reps said that they could be worn as bracelets so I put them on and asked my friends what they thought of my new accessories. Guess what? They liked them! When I revealed they were really purse hooks I got “oohs” and “aahs” galore. So, I had established that they looked good, had a dual purpose, and were convenient (they can also be hung on a handbag for a little extra decor) but would they fit on most bars and tables and would they be able to hold the ridiculous amount of weight that is my purse? Well, I tested it out over the weekend and I am happy to report that the answer to both those questions is yes. I now and forever will keep them in or on my handbag and I’m sure they will come in handy frequently. They come in a variety of colors/finishes from white to iridescent to hematite, and are a bargain at only $19.99 each. Any bridesmaid, hostess or mother would definitely appreciate such a functional and attractive gift. I know I would.

New Option for Wedding Makeup Application

There’s a New Bridesmaid Dress Designer in Town and We Likey

In each issue of D Weddings, I am responsible for the bridesmaid page. This means that I scour the collections of all deisgners carried in the Dallas area for bridesmaid dresses that are actually pretty and don’t look like every other one you’ve seen. (See the page from the most recent issue here.) Believe me, this is not a simple task. It is, however, getting easier. Designers are finally taking notice of the lack of attractive attendant dresses and creating their own lines. Thank goodness! To that end, a new label has emerged called Swoon. Available exclusively at Bella Bridesmaid until June 30, 2010 (and at other local retailers after that), the frocks, made of chiffon or silk charmeuse, are soft, feminine, elegant and, believe it or not, all under $300. You see, when we walk in our heels we’re taking unnatural toe-to-heel steps which places added pressure on the balls of our feet and causes our body to be out of balance.
