Thanks to Shannon Sharkey for this week’s wedding wisdom:

“As old and traditional as it seems, I wish we would have done a receiving line. It seems like it would take ages and ages to get through, but I didn’t get to speak with and see everyone who attended the event. Had we done a receiving line, we would have had a moment to say thank you to everyone.  Or if not a receiving line, I wish I would have looked into a unique creative way to make sure that we got around to speak to our guests. I intended for us to scarf down our food and then “float around” while everyone else was eating, but we just didn’t have the time. Also, once you do start to walk around, everyone is trying to talk to you at once, so I felt rude if I had to tell another person to “hold on” while I was talking to someone else!”

According to Peggy Post, a receiving line is still considered proper etiquette. Let this be a great tip for future brides!
