Most little girls dream of marrying their best friend, and Kelsey Suggs will do just that. She and Harrison Oldham met on a study abroad trip in 2007, but their relationship didn’t start out with a bang. It wasn’t until after their foreign excursion that they began a courtship with a night of dancing at Daisy Dukes in College Station and a trip to the Harrison’s lake house. From that weekend on, the two were inseparable, but it wasn’t until five months after their initial meeting that Harrison mustered up the courage to ask her to be his girlfriend.

Three years later, in December 2010, before the pair went their separate ways for Christmas, Harrison meticulously planned a special date for them to share at Nasher Sculpture Center. Kelsey was immediately suspicious because modern art was not Harrison’s cup of tea. Regardless, she played along and admired the pieces as her antsy boyfriend followed behind nervously anticipating his next move. Once they were in the courtyard, Harrison sat Kelsey down on a sculpture an presented her with an essay she had been begging him to write about their travels abroad. As Harrison got down on one knee, he was momentarily interrupted by the security guard asking Kelsey not to sit on the art, but the couple laughed it off and, fortunately, the whole thing was captured by a photographer who was standing by. After an excited yes from Kelsey, they met friends and family at Nick & Sam’s Grill to celebrate.

The couple’s romance began when they both were Aggies at Texas A&M University. Kelsey currently works at Rosemont Realty, and Harrison is a recent graduate of SMU’s law school. As a former contestant in our Bridal Gown Slim Down, Kelsey is excited to flaunt her new figure and marry her best friend at eM The Venue on August 11.
