Amanda Nelsen and Brandon McCarthy first met eleven years ago in high school but eventually, they went their separate ways. However, love blossomed when the two reconnected in Arizona (where Amanda went to college) three years ago. Last December, before heading out of town for the holidays, Brandon, a pitcher for the Texas Rangers, and Amanda, who works in fashion, had planned a dinner date at Nick and Sam’s. The two were seated at a quiet, cozy booth in the corner. When their server arrived with champagne and caviar, Amanda became suspicious. But during the long, romantic dinner she saw nothing out of the ordinary – although there was something out of the ordinary right in front of her. Sometime during the meal, Brandon had managed to slip an engagement ring into her glass of champagne but she hadn’t noticed because she wasn’t drinking it! When she finally made the discovery, she “cried a waterfall of tears” and accepted his proposal. They will say their “I do’s” on November 20 in Dallas.
