Teenage romance evolving into a lifelong marriage may seem pretty rare these days, but Allison Gerard and Wes Swank are living proof that it can (and does) still happen. The two met through a mutual friend at the ripe age of 19, when Allison was living in Texas and Wes was living in Virginia. After a long distance relationship for three years followed by a few stints as California and New York residents, the couple settled in Texas last year. Wes decided it was time to propose, so he popped the question in March, one month before their eighth anniversary. The couple’s beloved Cocker Spaniel was involved in the proposal, which took place in their home. Afterward, Allison and Wes celebrated with a romantic dinner at Fearing’s. They will be married in April at First United Methodist Church followed by a reception at The Adolphus.
