Runway Report: NYC Bridal Market Day 3

Thank goodness the rain slowed down a bit and the temperatures were a little higher on Day 3. Plus, it was Monday and since most people were at work, catching a cab was a lot easier. I went to six shows and appointments that day and by the end of market, I had noticed several emerging trends in wedding gown design. Here are a few of the most common:

  • Dresses that are short in the front and long in the back.
  • Peplums.
  • Lots and lots of tulle.
  • Sleeves, both long and short.
  • Boleros.
  • Mini-dresses.
  • Floof. (What’s floof? In simple terms, it’s bunches and bunches of small pieces of material sewn closely together covering the entire skirt of the dress creating a soft, fluffy look.)

Jump to see examples of some of the trends and more fantastic new dresses from St. Pucchi, Oscar de la Renta, Watters, Romona Keveza and Angel Sanchez.

Oscar didn't have a show this season but he did make four new gowns that I was able to see at his studio.

There's something about point d'esprit that makes me smile. It's hard to see in this photo but believe me, this gown is perfection for a formal afternoon wedding.

Soft point d'esprit tulle is what gives this Romona Keveza Couture gown a soft, feminine look.

LOVE the ballgown from Angel Sanchez. The Ramona Keveza with the black belt is gorgeous. I’m pretty into the gown by St. Pucchi at the top, too. Wow.
